Many homeowners look for ways to remove lichen from certain roof areas because they want to protect their home. While it may seem simple, removing lichen requires care. The wrong method can cause more harm than good.

Lichen attaches firmly to roofing materials. Unlike moss, which sits on top of the surface, lichen bonds tightly. This makes it harder to remove without affecting the roof underneath.
If you scrape too aggressively or use high-pressure washing, you may loosen shingles or strip protective coatings. This can lead to leaks and future repairs.

The best way to remove lichen from roof areas is to use safe, controlled cleaning methods that protect the roofing material. While it may seem simple, the wrong approach can damage roof shingles, strip protective coatings, and lead to costly repairs.

Hiring experienced professionals not only removes lichen safely but also helps extend the life of your roof and prevent future damage.
Some homeowners attempt DIY cleaning to save money. While small patches may seem manageable, roof work can be risky. Climbing on a roof increases the chance of slips and falls.
Improper cleaning can also damage shingles and create costly problems later. Many homeowners search for roof repair services near me after attempting DIY cleaning and noticing damage.
